Wander Outside the Lines
Maybe it started back in grade school — when we were told to color inside the lines.
We were young spirits invited to conform, to fit into the boxes that made sense to the world.
And little by little, we learned to follow rules — to stay inside the lines, to do what was expected,
to fit into what society calls acceptable.
Most of us spend our whole lives in those boxes.
But what do we really know about creativity if we never step outside of them?
What do we know about success, or discovery, or becoming something greater —
if we never color beyond the edges?
We can’t rise above by staying inside the lines.
We can’t be extraordinary by being ordinary.
Being normal means being average.
To create something new — something real — we need a different way of seeing,
a different perspective.
We have to separate from the noise, from the sameness,
and allow ourselves to live outside the box.
The Labels We Carry
Labels are everywhere.
On our clothes, our skin, our jobs, our beliefs.
They follow us through every stage of life —
race, gender, religion, status, success, failure —
each one a small box we’re sorted into.
And yet, even with all these different kinds of labels,
they all serve the same purpose: to define and limit us.
But what if we stopped letting them?
What if we moved outside those labels —
and stopped defining ourselves by what the world has named us to be?
What if, instead, we let life unfold?
Cooperated with the energy of what is,
and allowed our true nature — our essence — to emerge?
Who would we become if we lived without labels?
To Wander Is to Wonder
When I think of wandering, I think of exploration.
To wander is to look at the world — and myself — with wonder.
What if I wandered outside my labels, my judgments, my expectations?
What if I let curiosity lead?
Could I wander so far inward that I connect to the quiet truth inside me —
and then let that awareness ripple outward?
Out to my family and friends.
Out to the people I meet in passing.
Out to the food on my plate. To the farmers who grew it.
To the soil that held it.
To the earth beneath it.
And even further — to the universe that holds us all.
How far out could my gratitude go?
How far could my energy travel —
if I trusted that giving and receiving are one and the same?
When I give, I receive.
When I open, I expand.
That’s the magic of wandering —
it softens everything.
The Leader Within
When I wander outside the lines, I don’t get lost.
I find my compass again.
Stillness becomes my teacher.
The pause becomes the message.
And from that space, leadership isn’t about control —
it’s about presence.
When I’m connected to my inner resource,
I lead more intuitively,
listen more deeply,
and show up with quiet confidence.
That’s real power — not because I claim it,
but because my energy says so.
It’s an energetic shift —
a knowing that lives in the body, not the mind.
An Invitation
As this year comes to a close, I invite you to reflect.
Where have you been coloring inside the lines because it felt safer?
Where could you wander — even just a little —
into something more playful, more creative, more you?
Maybe that means taking a retreat,
asking for the raise,
starting the thing you’ve been afraid to start.
Or maybe it just means slowing down —
and listening.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is nothing.
To be still.
To let life speak.
A Mantra for the Wanderer
I can.
I will.
I am.
I can do hard things.
I will achieve my goals.
I am a leader.
I can wander.
I will connect.
I am wonderful.
As you step into 2026, ask yourself —
what’s your I can. I will. I am.?
Let’s create it together.
Let’s wander outside the lines.
With gratitude and joy,
Lisa
